Debian 13 “Trixie” became the new stable
Debian 13.0 was released on 9 August 2025. Trixie is the current stable branch, with point releases such as 13.6 following in 2026.
The Debian Project released Debian 13.0 “Trixie” on 9 August 2025. Official pages: debian.org/releases/trixie and the press release.
Trixie replaced Bookworm as stable. Security and important fixes land as point releases; Debian 13.6 shipped on 11 July 2026.
Expected support window for 13.x is roughly three years of regular support plus LTS after that (see the Debian release page for the exact dates).
