KDE Plasma 6.6 lands as Fedora’s KDE edition
Fedora Linux 44’s KDE spin ships Plasma 6.6 with a new login manager and first-boot Plasma Setup. The edition is now fully supported in Fedora Ready.
When Fedora 44 went GA on 28 April 2026, the official KDE edition moved to Plasma 6.6.
From the Fedora announcement:
- new Plasma Login Manager
- Plasma Setup for a simpler first boot
- a more cohesive experience from power-on
- Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Edition is fully supported in Fedora Ready
Plasma 6.6 also reached rolling distros (Arch / Manjaro testing) around the same weeks.

Canonical released the 11th Ubuntu LTS on 23 April 2026: Linux 7.0, GNOME 50 on Wayland, CUDA and ROCm in the archive, and TPM-backed disk encryption.
